What to Bring
1 CommentBefore coming to a free tax site, make sure you are bringing everything you will need so you only will have to make one trip.
You will need to bring:
An original social security card for everyone that will be on the return (you, your spouse if you’re filing together, and any dependents). If you do not have these, please first apply for new cards at the Social Security Administration. If you are filing separately from your spouse, we will still need your spouse’s social security number.
Photo ID for you and your spouse (if filing together).
All W-2s, 1099s, and any other tax forms you have received (for interest paid or received, tuition paid, or cancelled debt). If you receive social security, please bring the 1099-SSA even if that income is not taxable.
A voided check or bank letter with your routing and account numbers if you anticipate a refund and wish to have it direct deposited.
Child care provider’s name, Tax ID number, and the amount paid if you paid child care expenses that allowed you to work, go to school, or look for work.
A copy of last year’s tax return if available.
If you have all these things in hand, you’re ready to find a free tax preparation site!
