The collective efforts of our community partners and volunteers is paying off. Our goal of establishing a county-wide collaboration became reality in Fall of 2007. It is now a new year.

Now we find ourselves preparing for the upcoming tax season with an anticipation of even more participants this year. To improve our communication and sharing of information,  we are providing this new website as a tool for organizations that promote volunteer income tax preparation.

We anticipate that this tool will improve collaboration and help us expand outreach throughout Wake County. This way, we can increasingly promote and provide a quality service to those who can least afford it.

I would like to express our many thanks to the individuals that have spent the time and effort to make this an effective partnership. If it were not for the suggestion by Marjorie Holmes and Ken Garner several years ago, we might not be where we are today with the current coalition.

It is our hope that we can:

1. Increase participation by taxpayers that qualify
2. Increase the rate that local families claim eligible tax credits
3. Provide an alternative to refund anticipation loans and other predatory products
4. Link taxpayers with community resources
