  • Next Friday January 30th is being celebrated as EITC Awareness Day, both nationally and in North Carolina. Some of your colleagues across the state are holding events to bring attention to the availability of both the federal and NC earned income tax credits. While these events do not have to be extravagant, they will provide a wonderful opportunity to inform the residents you serve about the millions of dollars they leave unclaimed. • Attention VITA/TaxAide Site Coordinators:

In order for your tax site customers to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit or RRC, you will have to know how much stimulus payment they received last year.  The IRS.gov website has a tool to find out, but navigating to it is a bit cumbersome.

To help you get there during your busy tax prep process, we suggest using the following link to access the tool and then putting a link on the computer desktop of each of your preparers:

Happy tax season.  More soon on 7216 and NC EITC Awareness Day, January 30th.

  • We have received the shipment of printed flyers for use in 2009. These are ready for pickup at Fiscal Progress during regular business hours. If you would like to pick up flyers for distribution, please contact Ronnica at Fiscal Progress at 719-1750.

We have 14,000 of the inner beltline flyers and 6,000 of the outer beltline flyers. Each pack has 250 double-sided flyers. Most of these will be distributed by Wake County Human Services through its various programs to ensure that those who need help the most are informed of the service.

If you only need a few flyers, we can mail out a small batch for your use. Just give us a call (719-1750) to tell us how many you need and where to send them to.

  • Tax Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) are short-term cash advances for the amount a customer expects to receive as an income tax refund. So, it’s the same idea as getting a cash advance on a coming paycheck, except the loan is against your anticipated income tax refund instead of your paycheck. The benefit of a RAL is the same, too. It offers customers a quicker access to cash than waiting for their tax refund. Read the rest of this entry »

  • The 2010 (Tax Year 2009) tax flyers are available for download. Feel free to print these as needed and distribute to your clients and coworkers. Please note that these are double-sided documents.

Additionally, these will be available in print version on or about January 14th. You may pick them up at Fiscal Progress during regular business hours once they are ready.

As you can see, there are 2 versions of the flyer with a common second side. Additionally, we have enhanced the Spanish speaking sites for easier identification by non-English speaking taxpayers.

These are the 2 pdf files:

  • You may use the Spanish EITC flyer to help promote VITA services to Wake County’s growing Latino population. The above link is a pdf file that can be distributed in areas where lower income Spanish speakers may frequent. Please note that the income limit on the flyer is incorrect, since the actual limit for 2010 (Tax Year 2009) is close to $49,000.

  • The next meeting of the Wake EITC Coalition partners is Tuesday, January 6 at 9:30 am. The meeting will be hosted by Fiscal Progress:

    Fiscal Progress
    5540 Centerview Drive, Suite 200
    Raleigh, NC  27606
    919-719-1750

We will be finalizing the drafts of the Wake EITC Coalition partner flyers that will be distributed this year. Please note that these will be sent to the printers that same day with an expected turnaround time of 4 business days. Flyers should be ready for pickup by Tuesday January 13. This is later than we originally hoped, so we will need to make sure we can distribute these to areas of greatest need as quickly as possible!
